Highlights
Centro Histórico is Mexico City’s downtown, this area is where Tenochtitlan was founded (Aztec empire). The modern downtown was build on top of the ruins of the conquered city around the 16th century.
Walking around the main streets, you will find The Zocalo (main plaza), Museum of Templo Mayor, the Palacio de Iturbide , Palacio Nacional (the offices of the president), Colegio de San Idelfonso were you could admire murals painted by Diego Rivera and Jose Clemente Orozco and many other important buildings and historic sites.
Itinerary
We will pick you up at your location, drive to downtown & start our tour in “Palacio de Bellas Artes”, walk along “Calle Madero” towards the Main Plaza (Zócalo) visit the House of Tiles, The church of San Francisco, church of La Profesa and the Iturbides Palace passing by the murals of Diego Rivera. At the main plaza we will talk about the Metropolitan Cathedral see the National Palace and contemplate the ruins of “Templo Mayor” (will not enter).
We will go back to the car and drive to the Anthropology museum where we will guide you thru the Aztec Hall (1 hour).
